POS-X, a leading supplier of performance Point of Sale Hardware Solutions, has partnered with tekservePOS, LLC to distribute POS-X hardware throughout Mexico and Latin America. The partnership is in alignment with POS-X’s growth strategy to expand its reach into new markets and establishes a foundation for future growth in the region. In addition, tekservePOS will serve as a certified technical support and warranty repair center at their facility located in Mexico.

Compromised point of sale (POS) PIN entry devices (PEDs) have been used in tampering and skimming attacks to capture PIN and magnetic stripe card data. Visa members must take action to mitigate the risks introduced by these compromised POS PEDs. Although some of the recently identified POS PEDs are newer devices, many are over 10 years old and were never evaluated by an independent lab or approved by Visa or the Payment Card Industry (PCI).

The IBM Retail User Group announced Roundy’s Supermarkets, Inc. as the winner of the 2010 Retail Innovation Award. This prestigious Award was presented at the User Group’s 33rd annual conference in San Antonio, TX - April 25-28, 2010. The Innovation Award carries special meaning because the winner is chosen by the winner’s peer group – the retail membership of the organization.

A recent study by Juniper Research predicted more than 300 million consumers around the world will have used mobile coupons by 2014 and this usage will generate a redemption value close to $6 billion globally.


Combining the convenience of mobility and the distinction of being “green” and eco-friendly, the use of 2D scanning entered the mainstream when industry heavyweights like Target and Starbucks recently got ahead of the curve in the mobile couponing space. The challenges of today’s retail warehouse operating environment are pretty self evident. Time to make decisions has evaporated, pressures on cost containment abound, and customer satisfaction measures are paramount to retention during the roughest of times. These challenges bring to mind the definition of “an athlete” from my favorite childhood coach, “run fast, jumps high."

Don't forget the cable...

When sending in equipment for repair that uses a separate power supply or communication cable, be sure to send it along with the repair. Sometimes the problem is actually the communication cable and not the device. For example, there could be a pinched wire inside the cable that is not visible on the outside. By including the cable, we can cover all possible scenarios for the device, eliminating a NTF and ensuring the unit is fixed properly the first time!
