PacSun’s Tablet App Rollout Shows Retailers Can Get Mobile Now Without Starting Over

Over the past couple of years, we have worked with many retailers who are either working furiously to equip stores with the latest retail technologies or are looking for new ways to optimize IT investments and increase ROI.

One of the latest trends in mobile POS that is helping many of our customers realize significant ROI is the use of “clienteling” apps or guided selling tools on mobile tablets. Although not all of these apps are being used to process payments, they are empowering store associates to recover potential lost sales and create unique upsell opportunities through one-on-one personalized attention.

In fact, our partners at Global Bay recently made headlines after deploying their iPad Retailing Solution in 300 Pacific Sun “PacSun” stores nationwide. By leveraging Global Bay’s iPad Retailing App, the California-based specialty retailer has been steadily capitalizing on the interaction between customers and their store associates by enhancing the overall in-store selling experience. After early adoption of the solution yielded a significant uptick in ROI, the California-based specialty retailer now plans to expand Global Bay’s mobile technology to 100 more PacSun stores through the rest of 2011.

As I mentioned in a previous posting, our goal for this year’s tekSESSIONS is to make sure that all attendees leave with not only better insight into the hottest retail trends, but technology solutions that can be implemented right now. With this in mind, Sandeep Bhanote, Global Bay’s CEO, will be one of the presenters at this year’s event. Drawing from real-world examples like PacSun’s successful adoption, Bhanote’s presentation “Get Mobile Now Without Starting Over” will provide retailers with insight into how leading retailers are deploying mobile solutions today without undergoing any major store upgrades.

If you’re interested in learning more about Bhanote’s presentation or other scheduled speakers scheduled to present at this year’s tekSESSIONS, you can visit our website for more information.

In the meantime, make sure you join our LinkedIn group, Retail tekSPERTS to be a part of the discussions trending throughout the industry.
