At the point when the order is taken, a credit request is created which contains the following information:

• Address verification
• Account number
• Account expiration date
• Amount of transaction
• Date and time of transaction
• Location of transaction

The Paragon/3 Credit Card Authorization System recognizes the request and reformats it so that it complies with the Credit Company’s requirements. The request is then transmitted to the appropriate service. Once a response is obtained, the system interprets the response and sends a message to the user (i.e. approved, denied, etc.).

Should the on-line system fail at any time (for example, if a phone line fails) the system will save the authorization requests so that they may be transmitted in a batch when the problem is corrected. Mail Orders can also be processed using this batch method.
